Route Overview

The road from Shillong heads south via the Mawkdok Dympep Valley viewpoint — one of the most photographed spots in Meghalaya. The highway hugs the edge of deep gorges with lush valleys far below. After Mawkdok, the road levels out into Cherrapunji's highland plateau. The views of Bangladeshi plains far in the distance on a clear day are simply breathtaking.
